In my twenties, when I first moved to London, I had a fabulous few years living my dream of being an actor. I had some splendid liaisons…I positively hoovered through the cast of Emmerdale! Then the call of marriage and mortgage and moderation in all things beckoned. I got myself a “proper job”, much to the delight and relief of my parents. It was for The Church of England, but that’s a story for another day.

However, the love of treading the boards and the lure of being on stage never left me, and nowadays I am on stage again in my new guise as a professional speaker, MC and comedian. Imagine my delight therefore when I recently got the chance to audition for a real acting role and got it!

So on Friday August 9th at 8pm I will appearing in a short play by Tom Melly, called The Widow’s Tale – and I play the young widow. The evening is made up of a series of short plays of around ten minutes each and is called Fest Norwood Shorts. It is part of Fest Norwood – a 2-week extravaganza in West Norwood run by South London Theatre

On the first Sunday of the Festival: Sunday 4th August I am also performing in the open mic night at 8pm at the theatre.

Fest Norwood 2019 is now in its 2nd year: last year South London Theatre created and hosted the first Fest Norwood; an arts festival based in West Norwood, London for the local community and surrounding areas. The Festival staged 75 events, 62 of which were free, and the response to the festival was overwhelmingly positive. The theatre is committed to providing this festival annually, “as a part of West Norwood’s ever-growing colourful calendar of cultural and community events.”

The Festival runs from the 2nd-11th August. See here for how to book tickets. Over the next month I will also be bringing my new show, Celia Delaney is…Angelic? To Camden Fringe on August 15th, 17th and 19th
